Back in late-March/early-April, before the Guthman Musical Instrument Competition at Georgia Tech, I worked with the super-talented and super-cool Christian Karkow on some new actuator mounting brackets for the EMvibe. The goal was to try to get all of the actuators more optimally placed. Because different manufacturers’ vibraphones are different, the brackets need to be made specifically for a certain make/model instrument, in this case the Yamaha YV-2700. Over several nights we (well, mostly Christian) cut, milled, drilled, grinded, and welded these new brackets. The new brackets are a huge improvement over the previous ones. Enjoy some pictures of the manufacturing process.
